I am sure everyone knows about the upcoming election in November. There are some interesting facts about it that I come across that I thought might be of interest to you. (kinda like the old "Civics Class" in school................but without the POP quiz)
It will be the FIRST election since 1952, (yea, THAT long ago) that neither the incumbent President,or his elected VP is running for election. *Ford counts as Nixon VP. Every election since had either the Pres or his VP ruunning.
It will be the FIRST election since 1960 that a sitting US Senator will be elected President. (Clinton,McCain and Obama are all current Senators)Could have happened in 2004 with Kerry
It will only be the FOURTH election since 1952 that the name of NIXON or BUSH will NOT appear on the National ticket! Kinda makes you wonder about their influence on the GOP. Those were 1964,1976,1996 and now 2008.
This election will also see a new milestone. Either the FIRST woman will be elected President,(Clinton) or the FIRST african-american,(Obama) or the OLDEST man elected (McCain). * McCain is older than Reagan was when he was elected.
I thought these were some interesting facts about the upcoming election. I find it fascinating that so much has happend in MY life time. Please vote this November. It is critical to our future. VOTE! VOTE! VOTE!
Class dismissed.........wait, get out your notebooks.............POP QUIZ!!!
